Last month, we started back hurling training in St. Colmcille’s. We had about 40 students from 4th, 5th and 6th class out under the dark January skies on the garda pitch. The under 11s are out to defend their title. While the under 13s are hoping to go one better than last year and possibly win the school’s first ever under 13 Roinn A hurling county title. We are also hoping to achieve the under 13 double by winning in both hurling and football which has never been done before by any school in Tipperary.
We have been working on our fitness with Mr. Doyle by doing exercises such as the plank, windmills, and rolling lunges. We are doing these exercises to strengthen our core. This will help us bounce off tackles once the campaign starts. We have been doing footwork with Mr. Healy. We were working on the ladders. So if we were soloing down the field we could side step our marker and score. We have been doing the basics with Mr.Kelly. We were doing jab lifting with him and rising the ball. We hope to have a successful year on the pitch. Hopefully come June we will have the double in the bag.
