Congratulations to our U11 quiz team who qualified for the All Ireland Finals in the RDS on 6th April by finishing 2nd in the County Final in Nenagh on Friday night. Well done boys!
The Credit Union Table Quiz
On Friday 28th of February, the school’s U11 Credit Union Quiz Team went to the CountyFinals in Nenagh.
The team consists of four boys: Stephen Cahill, Daniel Tuohy, Kane Conneely and Ewan Quill. We had spent some time having practice sessions in school beforehand but weren’t sure how ready we were. I think our team works really well together as everyone has different interests.
It took place at 7.30pm at the AbbeyCourtHotel. We had to be there by 7.15pm. The quiz went on in the Function room at the back of the hotel. It was quite crowded by the time the quiz started. We were all feeling excited and nervous at the start but once the quizmaster began, it was fine.
The majority of questions in the quiz weren’t too hard to answer. A lot of them weren’t too easy either. Sometimes it was just hard to make out what the question was because the sound from the microphone was too muffled. An example of a question we answered was “What is the name given to the wiring inside a lightbulb beginning with F?” There was a lot of high-fiving whenever we got a question right. It was a tight finish in the end. We came second and received 40 euros each. We were only 4 points off the winning team, Scoil Ailbhe. We were so thrilled to hear St. Colmcille’s being called out. We were given lots of treats by the organisers and then had our photo taken with Mr. Doyle.
Overall it was a great evening and I am really looking forward to the All-Ireland Finals on the 6th of April in the RDS.
