Dear Parents / Guardians:
First of all I just want to say that I hope everyone is keeping well and minding each other at this time of fear, doubt and confusion. What we are living through is unprecedented; we have never experienced these times before and hopefully will never again. It is vitally important that we follow the advice of the professionals and be vigilant in this regard. If we all heed government and H.S.E advice we are giving ourselves the best chance of getting through this quicker and before we know it we will see things getting back to normal.
On March 12th Taoiseach Leo Varadkar announced that all schools would close until March 29th. On March 24th he announced further closures until after the Easter holidays up until April 19th.
We hope the school work packs we sent home are going well. It must be emphasised that these work packs are optional. As a school we do not want to add any pressure to an already stressful situation and the work we are sending home is only a suggested scheme. It is supplementary to everything the boys have been doing so far. It is impossible to replicate the classroom at home and don’t even attempt to do so. Do as much as you feel you and your child / children are able for. PE can be covered with playing outside, music can be singing songs, Literacy is reading and enjoying books, SESE is nature walks etc. This is an ideal time to spend time with and enjoy our children and we would live by the philosophy here that less is more and ensuring our mental wellbeing is looked after is of utmost importance
We will keep you updated as to any further announcements and we will continue to share online resources and sites that offer educational activities to children during this time. If you need to contact the school during this time, to e-mail stcolmcillens@eircom.net is the best option.
Tabhair Aire,
Conor Doyle
