Active Week  2015 kicked off on Tuesday morning and will run for the week.

This is part of the Active Flag project.

Below you will see various reports written by some of our pupils describing events which they have enjoyed.

Kick for the Win

The “Kicking over the Bar” Competition went ahead straight after lunch with teams determined to get points. First, Second and Third Classes did their competition at the bottom part of the pitch while Fourth, Fifth and Sixth Classes went ahead at the top. The Fourth Class “Kicking over the Bar” started first with a good start with everybody getting through the first round but when it went to the third round, it went down to four people left.

Brian Quinn and Seán Collier both went through kicking great points over the bar leaving Tom Duggan and Adam Sage in a third place play-off. Adam was unlucky that he drove the ball wide leaving Brian Quinn in 1st place, Sean Collier 2nd and Tom Duggan 3rd.

Up next were Fifth Class with a surprising shock when Ciarán McCormack put the ball wide in the first round, followed by Luke Ormond going out in the second round. It then went to another 3rd place play-off between James Peter and Mikie Ryan. Unfortunately, Mikie kicked the ball wide leaving Edward Ryan in 1st place, Daniel Tuohy 2nd and James Peter 3rd.

Sixth Class started immediately after that with people going out in every round. When it came to the 30m mark there were four people left. James Corcoran and Eoin Quinn kicked great points over the bar which left Jack Nevin and Killian Fennell in a 3rd place play-off. It was close but Jack Nevin came out on top coming 3rd. Mr. Doyle had to move a cone back further to see who would win. An unlucky Eoin finished in 2nd place with James Corcoran coming 1st.

 Kicking Over the Bar

Today we did lots of games like “Kicking over the Bar” and playing soccer. A really fun part of the day was when Sixth Class played the Teachers outside on the grass. It was a draw: 5-5.

I was playing for the Blue Skies team.
