On Wednesday September 28th we travelled by bus with the girls from St. Joseph’s school to the Thurles Crokes athletic track. When we arrived the field was already packed with children from different schools from all around Tipperary. Ms. Faherty brought us to an empty spot in the field up near the starting line so we could get a good position for every race. Mr. Doyle then walked the track with us so that we would be familiar with the layout of it. Mr. Doyle gave us advice by telling us to get off to a good start and to keep watching the man with the whistle. Third and Fourth class were running in race 6 and  Fifth and Sixth class were running in race 16. We were told to relax for half an hour. Mr. Doyle then brought us into the centre of the field for our warm up, we did a few jogs, sprints and exercises. We lined up for our race and were lucky enough to be really close to the rope. The race was really fast and we could hear everyone cheering us as we went around the track. We had boys that finished 4th, 5th, 6th, 9th, 10th, 14th 31st and 32nd which meant we won the gold medal and the bronze medal for our team. Fifth and Sixth class ran an hour later and we cheered them on. They did very well and won a team bronze medal. We were very happy to have ran so well for our school, all 16 boys that went on Wednesday won a medal. We look forward to doing it again next year. Thanks to Mr. Doyle and Ms. Faherty for all their encouragement.
