On Wednesday 10th October, fifth and sixth class went to see Gerrard Siggins, author of ‘Six after Six’, ‘Green Days Cricket in Ireland 1792-2005’, ‘Lansdowne Road’ and his first children’s novel ‘Rugby Spirit’.

5th and 6th class and their teachers Mr. Kelly and Mr. Doyle had an early lunch at 12:30 and we left for the library at 12.50 .When we got there, Pat the librarian led us to our seats, then Pat went and got Gerrard Siggins.

Gerrard came in, introduced  himself and welcomed us. He got the show on the road by telling us about all his books and letting us in on a wee secret. He read some paragraphs out of the book ‘Rugby Spirit’. We had been reading it in class for the three weeks previous.

In the end he let us ask some questions and he answered them as best he could, without  spoiling his books. Gerrard finished by giving us some autographed colouring sheets. Gerrard Siggins is a great author and I would highly recommend him to anyone who has an interest in sport. Even if you don’t like sports you would like ‘Rugby Spirit’.
