Congratulations to the U11 football team who beat Cashel BNS in the Roinn B County Final in Templemore. All Ireland champion John McGrath presented the well earned medals to the team at a special assembly on Friday.

Five goals and seven points is a fantastic haul for any team and it was enough the capture this title for the first time. Captain Diarmuid Delaney accepted the cup on behalf of a super team. Well done to all involved.

Match Report by David Quinn – Rang 3

Today our school were playing in the county football final against Cashel. We had a good feeling because the team were playing well and we were at home in the town park.

Templemore got off to a great start when the ball was thrown in. It was not long before our first point was scored, which came from the boot of Conor Cadell. All of the school was shouting go St. Colmcille’s go!!. I think it encouraged the team a lot more. Cashel missed some easy chances and some easy frees throughout the game.

At half time the scoreboard was looking good we were well ahead. At half time the team had a good talk with Mr. Doyle, Mr. Kelly and Mr. Healy and when the whistle blew for the second half we all started cheering again and the boys felt it from the side line. They kicked on from there throwing over point after point and goal after goal. We knew we had this game in the bag because the Cashel heads began to drop and Templemore finished the game really strong.

At the final whistle we were all going bananas on the sideline and the final score was 5-07 to 2-00.
