On the 27th of May Ewan Scott,Ms.Hassett, Mr.Doyle and I went to Kilkenny to collect our 3rd green flag. This was the water flag.

We left our school at 12:15. It took us about 45 minutes to get there. The car park was packed but eventually we found a spot. We parked up, got out of the car and headed for the hotel. Mr.Doyle told Ewan and I to stand infront of the steps and he said “We will get all the pictures out of the way and that will keep Mr. Healy happy!” That was the first of many pictures.

We were welcomed at reception by one of the staff members. He directed us into a room where we had our lunch. Mr. Doyle and Ms. Hassett sat with all the teachers while myself and Ewan sat with the pupils from the other schools. We were quickly served chips and goujons. It was delicious. Mr.Doyle came up to check on us. We told him we were just waiting for our dessert. The waiters came with our desserts. It was pefitaroles. Mr.Doyle went back to his seat and we tore into our desserts. They were so nice. When we were finished we went down to where Mr.Doyle and Ms.Hassett were sitting. They said they weren’t expecting us to be finished for another 5 minutes but we told them the dessert was so nice we had them eaten in no time at all.

We headed upstairs to where the ceremony took place. We took more pictures and got bags with the green flag printed on them. We sat down and waited for the ceremony to begin. It began with a woman called Patricia who stood up and spoke. She introduced her fellow speakers who were sitting at a table with her. They all got the chance to speak to the crowd and when they were all finished they started presenting the flags to each school. They started with the schools who were on their first green flag, then the schools on their second and so on. We had to wait for a while because we were on our 3rd green flag. After a long wait our name was finally called. Myself and Ewan went up to collect the green flag. I took the certificate and Ewan took the flag. We stood in for our photo, proudly holding the green flag and certificate. We sat back down to wait for St.Josephs to be awarded with their green flag. Their name was called out and we gave a huge cheer.

Shortly after that we left. On our way out Mr.Doyle took a few of the bags we got which were left over, hopping no one was looking!! We got into the car prouder than we were getting out of it.
