On Friday the 27/9/13 St. Colmcille’s played a football match against Two Mile Borris NS in the GAA pitch at quarter past one. When I woke up on Friday morning I was in such a good mood. The only problem was I had to wait until quarter past one to play.

Before I knew it, it was time to head off to the match. When we got to the GAA pitch Mr.Healy, Mr.Kelly and last but not least Mr. Doyle named out the starting team. In goal was Shane Sweeney, 3 full backs were Darragh Doyle, Gavin Coleman and Stephen Cahill. Centre back was James Corcran, the two wing backs were Marco Quinlan and Jack Nevin. Midfield was Lorcan Roche and Conor Cadel.  Centre forward was Martin Bergin, wing forwards were Ewan Scott and Diarmuid Delaney. Full forwards were Cory Morrisey, Ciarán Mcormack and Kevin Sheedy.

When the team walked on to the pitch the crowd was like a stampede of elephants in a forest. When Martin Ryan threw in the match ball Lorcan Roche won it, did a one two to Conor Cadel and took the shot. Unfortunately their number five tipped off it and we won a ‘45.  Lorcan Roche stepped up and whipped it in to the box, but it was cleared back out to him. He carefully collected it and put it sailing over the bar.

After fifteen minutes we were losing 0.2  to 1.1. Two Mile Borris were all over St. Colmcille’s and before the half ended they got another goal. The look on our manager’s face wasn’t good; we were going to have to pick up our game if we were going to win.

The St. Colmcille’s crowd were still cheering with the hope we could win. The second half started and we were destroying Two Mile Borris. Before we knew it we were ahead by a point and we stayed ahead until Martin Ryan blew the final whistle. The crowd went crazy. Marco Quinlan got man of the match but I think the anyone on the team could have been awarded man of the match. The final score was 2-1 – 1-9.
