On Wednesday afternoon Mr Healy, Mr Kelly, Mr Doyle and the panel had a game against Scoil Ailbhe. We all loaded on to the bus. We were all excited to play against our rivals, Scoil Ailbhe. When we got to their home pitch we went to the dressing rooms and got changed. When we were finished we ran out onto the pitch and began our drills. In the middle of the drills Mr Healy called me over and said to go up to the referee for the toss. I made my way up to the referee. When I got up to the referee I shook hands with him and the Scoil Ailbhe captain also. Unfortunately he won the toss.
The game started when the referee threw the ball in and Lorcan Roche collected the ball and hand passed it to Conor Caddel who put it perfectly between the posts. Their goalkeeper kicked the ball in to midfield and their number 10 won the ball but put it wide. We ran towards their goals and Ewan Scott scored a brilliant goal. Scoil Alibhe were not giving up however and got a goal of their own. We were drawing at half time. Mr Doyle put on Luke Ormonde for Ali Aisou. Mr Healy warmed up the team and it must have worked because before we knew it we were ahead by two goals, one from Conor Cadell and the other from Killian Fennell. We could not lose concentration at this stage and we had to get stuck in for the last 20 minutes. There was about 2 minutes left and I was put on for Killian Fennell. No sooner had I gotten on to the pitch the referee blew the final whistle!
We were all delighted that we had qualified for the county final. We got changed, got back on the bus and headed home. Mr Healy announced the man of the match. We all knew who it was and we were right, it was Eoin Quinn. When we returned from the match we got a bite to eat. After that we walked back to class where Mrs. Faherty congratulated us on our victory. It was home time and we all left school very happy with ourselves. We had a great day in Scoil Ailbhe.
