On the 9th November 2016 St. Colmcille’s went to Leahy Park in Cashel. The bus left at 9.30am with us arriving at 10am. Our first match was against St. Peter and Paul’s. It was a very tight game that ended 0-3 to 0-2 in St Colmcilles favour. Mr Healy described it as the most important game of the day. The tournament was the Roinn A1 County Championship. Our 2nd match was against St. Mary’s. We headed into this game confident after the last game. In the end it was men against boys. It was really a cricket score. We could have won by more as Zac had two efforts that both hit the woodwork. Our 3rd game was against Scoil Ailbhe of Thurles. In this game Dayle Scully scored a tap in off a keeper mistake. Zac st us up with an early goal in the second half. Niall Delaney sealed the deal with a fantastic goal before the end of the game. Our defense stood strong this game and did no concede. Into the County Final now and our heads held high. This game was against Powerstown of Clonmel and we knew it would be a tough one. It was very tense in the first half the score being 1-0 to 0-1 in St. Colmcille’s favour but Mr. Healy’s word of wisdom worked as we were way better team in the 2nd half, leaving St. Colmcille’s County Champions. The score was 5-2 to 0-2. The presentation was made by Kevin Halley who handed our Captain James Grey the plaque. It was a great day all round and all the team enjoyed it.

Our first game was against St. Peter and Paul’s. We beat them 3 points to 2. Zac, Dale and Niall kicked the points. Our second game was against St. Mary’s Clonmel. We won easily. In the semi final we were playing Scoil Ailbhe. We beat them by 3-1 to no score. The scorers were Dale, Zac and Niall.
We were really excited but a bit nervous to be in the final. We thought we had it lost but we ended up beating them 5-2 to 0-2. We had it won! We sang songs on the way home and there was surprise at the school as the whole school made a guard of honor for us through the school yard.
