Well done to the 13 boys who represented St. Colmcille’s with pride in Thurles for the U11 football blitz on Wednesday.

In windy conditions the team defeated Gaelscoil Thurles, Two Mile Borris  and Scoil Ailbhe to qualify for the Roinn A County Final.

Recounts of the St. Colmcille’s U11 Football Blitz

St. Colmcilles U11’s went to Thurles on Wednesday the 11th of October to play a football blitz.

We played Gaelscoil Thurles first. They were very competitive but we were very happy to win by 4-10 to their 1-1. Next we came up against Two-Mile-Borris and we had an easy victory. The final score was 4-3 to no score.

Thirdly we played Scoile Ailbe who won their two games, just like us. They had very strong players and for a while it seemed like we weren’t going to go home as winners, but we turned the game around and in the final few minutes we scored the winning goal. The final score was 3-1 to 2-1.

We celebrated the whole way back to school.

Defending Our Title

On the 11th October it was a mild day. The U11’s were representing the school in the Durlas Òg pitch in the Roinn A Football Competition.

The teams they played were Two Mile Borris, Gael Scoil and Scoil Ailbhe. The boys had two easy wins against Two Mile Borris and Gael Scoil. But Scoil Ailbhe were the team to beat.

Scoil Ailbhe started off stronger by scoring 2 goals. But Liam Collins scored a goal to put the boys back in the game.

At half time Scoil Ailbhe were ahead on a score line of 2-1 to 1-0. In the second half our boys were on top. Zac Quinlinn, Jack Marnell and Tom Corcoran added to the scoreboard and there was also some all star defending like the great Kerry teams.

We look forward to defending our title for a second year running. I think Tom Corcoran or Ryan Loughnane would get my Man of the Match.
