On the 13th of November we went to Boherlahan to play a football county semi-final against St. Peter and Pauls. We arrived at the pitch at 12 o’clock and got ready for the match. We got out on the pitch and started warming up.
A couple of minutes later it was time for throw in, Joe Burke and Billy Collier went up for it and Joe won it. About one minute into the game we got a free and it was passed to Joseph Foy and he stuck it in the bottom corner for a goal. Billy Collier added to this before Odhran Dalling scored a second goal for St. Colmcille’s from close range to leave the Templemore men delighted with their first half efforts. St. Peter and Pauls didn’t lie down though and came right back into the game scoring 2 points of their own and only for an excellent save from David Augustyniak, St. Colmcille’s excellent early start would all have been undone. The match went on and we felt we had dominated the first half and we were full value for our 2-1 to 2 points lead at half time.
In the second half we had to go in to it as if it were a new game and fight for it. We started the second half well and kept the ball up at their end of the pitch scoring two goals through Liam Collins and Sean Stone and points followed from Billy Collier (2), Sean Walsh (2) and Peter Breen. It was a good match and we were delighted to win after they beat us last year. The final score was 4-6 to 2 points. On the way back there were great celebrations and chants on the bus. It was a great win for St.Colmcille’s. We now look forward to the County Final which will be played on Tuesday 19th November in Littleton against Scoil Ailbhe.
