St. Colmcille’s Primary School is situated  on the pleasant, tree-lined Church Avenue in the heart of Templemore.  This picturesque avenue links two of Templemore’s most prominent and finest buildings; The Church of the Sacred Heart and the Garda Training College.

St. Colmcille’s Primary School was established in Templemore by the Christian brothers in 1968. It continues to promote the Catholic ethos as modeled by Edmund Rice. The school has served the local community well throughout the years, educating the boys of Templemore and it’s surrounding areas. With a current enrolment of just under 100, the school continues to grow and change to cater for an ever changing world.

The dedicated staff of seven Teachers, three Special Needs Assistants, a Home-School-Community Liaison Coordinator, School Completion Programme officers, a Secretary, a Caretaker and Cleaners all strive for excellence in their respective positions.

Our Parents’ Association are active in many school activities. They meet on the first Wednesday of each month and organise school events such as Pancake Tuesday, St. Patrick’s Day Parade, Information evenings for parents and much more. They have also raised much needed funds for the school.

The Board of Management of our school consists of eight members who have overall  responsibility for the running of our school. The Board meets at least five times a year and ensures the school is managed properly. The Board formulates policies, controls the financial aspects of the school and is the employer of all staff in the school.

The current Board was elected in 2015 and will serve 4 years. There are two members nominated by the Patron, two nominated by the school, two parents nominees and two nominees from the wider community.
