Each student took part in a range of activities designed to promote friendship and respect towards others. These were some of the activities the pupils enjoyed:<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">The Rainbow Fish: <\/span>Each class heard the story of the Rainbow Fish and watched the video of it. This showed the children the importance of caring for others.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">The Friendship Fish: <\/span>Every morning, each child picked a name of someone in their class out of a box. During the day, they did something nice for that child. Then they wrote what they had done on a scale, and stuck it to the school Friendship Fish in the hall. By the end of the week, the fish had all his scales and many nice deeds had been done!<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_2033\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2033\" style=\"width: 400px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/stcolmcillens.scoilnet.ie\/blog\/files\/2015\/03\/IMG_4940.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-2033\" src=\"http:\/\/stcolmcillens.scoilnet.ie\/blog\/files\/2015\/03\/IMG_4940.jpg\" alt=\"Friendship Fish\" width=\"400\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-2033\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Friendship Fish<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Collaborative Games<\/span>: The children played games that promoted co-operation and working together. They had great fun playing together.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><a href=\"http:\/\/stcolmcillens.scoilnet.ie\/blog\/files\/2015\/03\/games1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"  wp-image-2075 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/stcolmcillens.scoilnet.ie\/blog\/files\/2015\/03\/games1-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"games1\" width=\"401\" height=\"301\" \/><\/a>Friendship Lessons:<\/span>\u00a0In class, the children talked about ways they could be helpful and respect others. They also played friendship games, such as Friendship Bingo.<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Friendship Bracelets<\/span>: Each student had the opportunity to win friendship bracelets which had messages promoting friendship written on them.<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Friendship Slogans:<\/span>\u00a04<sup>th<\/sup>, 5th and 6th class made up some great slogans to raise the awareness of the importance of being a good friend.<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"> Friendship Posters:<\/span>\u00a0Each child worked during the week on a Friendship Poster, and on Friday the winners from each class group were announced.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"ngg_displayed_gallery mceItem\" src=\"https:\/\/stcolmcillens.scoilnet.ie\/blog\/nextgen-attach_to_post\/preview\/id--2073\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Assembly<\/span>: After break on Friday, everyone went down to the Halla for an assembly. Each class sang a song or read some of the poems they had written during the week. Then the winners of the Poster and slogan competition were announced.<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Talks<\/span>: Tipperary hurler James Woodlock joined us on Tuesday to talk about Respect and Friendship. He encouraged the boys to\u00a0 talk to each other, to tell when in trouble, to get involved in different activities and to stand up for themselves and each other. On Thursday Sgt. Fiona Fogarty joined us to give us an insight into bullying and especially cyber-bullying.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We hope everyone enjoyed Friendship week 2015.
